Dr. Bandy X. Lee and the Trump Mental Health Analysis
Dr. Bandy X. Lee name became social media sensation over night claiming US President Donald Trump is not mentally fit for office. However, she has never examined the current US President. As a matter of fact, she ever has even engaged in a conversation with Mr. Trump. She appears to make her entire “professional analysis” based off of observations introduced by various US elected officials from both sides of the political aisle.
Let’s take a look closer at Dr. Bandy X. Lee. and her stellar resume. She has an expired medical license in Connecticut. She does have active professional standing in the State of New York, but does not see any patients. Furthermore, browsing the Yale Hospital site, oddly she was not listed. A review of the Yale Medical School website does not turn up any hits on her, either. Additionally, she is not listed as a member of the Yale University faculty. Lastly, upon closer examination, she is strictly a volunteer with Yale in the Voluntary Clinical Faculty of Psychiatry. Yale’s Voluntary Clinical Faculty of Psychiatry currently lists 337 affiliated individuals.

The Voluntary Ranks definition https://medicine.yale.edu/facultyaffairs/appts/ranks_tracks/ranks.aspx#page3
Voluntary faculty are typically clinicians or others who are employed outside of the School but make significant contributions to department programs at the medical center or at affiliated institutions. Each department has established guidelines for the nature of required participation, such as the relative importance of teaching students, supervising residents, engaging in scholarly activity, participating in department administration, and other activities.
Voluntary faculty typically do not receive compensation or benefits from the School.
The conclusion can be drawn Dr, Bandy X. Lee is using her affiliation with Yale University to actively be involved in social engineering propaganda and she directly violated Goldwater Rule, which prohibits psychiatrists from offering opinions on someone who they have not evaluated in person.
GoldWater Rule came into the effect in 1973 due to the US election of 1964. During the election Fact Magazine, now defunct and sued by Barry Goldwater, was only in circulation betwixt 1964-1967 published a query from psychiatrists to provide their opinions if Senator Barry Goldwater from GOP had the mental fitness to be President elect. Out of the 12,356 psychiatrists 19% responded to the survey, out of the 19% of respondents 49% stated yes, Barry Goldwater was unfit, hence concluding a psychiatric diagnosis without ever conducting an examination and in turn violated the code of ethics. Thereafter, in 1973, American Psychiatric Association members started to follow the principle that became known “Goldwater Rule” to not provide an opinion of the individual they have not personally examined.
“ The Goldwater Rule" published in the Principles of Medical Ethics and Annotation, Especially Applicable to Psychiatry, clearly stating:
“On occasion psychiatrists are asked for an opinion about an individual who is in the light of public attention or who has disclosed information about himself/herself through public media. In such circumstances, a psychiatrist may share with the public his or her expertise about psychiatric issues in general. However, it is unethical for a psychiatrist to offer a professional opinion unless he or she has conducted an examination and has been granted prior authorization, such a statement” it has been posted by Maria A. Oquendo, M.D., Ph.D.
Immediate Past President of the American Psychiatric Association (2017 – 2018)
Lastly, US President Donald Trump as majority of leaders exhibits over inflated ego. However, terminology used by the Dr. Lee is clearly in violation of the medical community’s ethics. At best ,she could be considered a self proclaimed pundit. This sort of analysis ,employing perceived bona fides, is an obvious attempt at social engineering via social media. Regardless of the political affiliations and beliefs one should not commit professional misconduct under any circumstances.
In the meantime,Trump show continues to march to his tune.
Only time will tell the outcome.
