For those who are unfamiliar with China or Chinese politics, but are curious then a good place to start is to learn more about the Two Sessions.
It is China's most important political gathering, referring to the annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) – the country's top legislature – and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)– the country's top political advisory body.
The 13th NPC session starts on March 5, and the 13th National Committee of the CPPCC session started on March 3. 2,980 deputies are gathering in Beijing to hear the Chinese Premier’s Government Work Report, as well as other work reports on key government sectors from the prior year.
Deputies to the NPC and members of the CPPCC will also collect bills and motions from the people and submit them for discussion during meetings.
